They've done their brand a massive disservice and whoever overlooked this and thought 'This rocks' should have realized that the fans would hate it (we've told you on your facebook site from the start in VERY clear words) Hell even fights with Heroes could have been worked in that way.īut from all I've seen and read it appears like you've taken away lots of aspects that the core fanbase loved about the game and crammed it together with features that just don't want to be together, let alone develop them properly to a point where it's actually enjoyable. I even see lots of potential for Multiplayer (after all every Overlord wants to be the ultimate evil, right?) so a Dark Souls like option to invade each others worlds (or even customized towers) would seem like and option. I think it would have been interesting to see them see expand on the open world aspect (-> Witcher 3, Assassins Creed) or include a casual skill system (Borderlands). Still, of all the possibly imaginative ways to do that, they chose one which doesn't really appear like a logical development. ![]() Yes Overlord was never a casual franchise and it is possible that it wasn't as successful as the publisher hoped, so they wante to redevelop the brand to make it more attractive. ![]() I mean seriously, when the devs walked in and pitched the idea of a 4 player hack'n slash Diaoverlord, who in the management/branding team stood up and said 'That seems like a perfectly natural development for the Overlord franchise, I'm sure the fans will love it!'? Though the developers haven't done a particularly great job, I think the main blame with this one mainly lies with the Codemasters management. ![]()
